
This program, in partnership with the Copiague Fire Department, prepares students for careers as First Responders and focuses on fire prevention, firefighting, emergency management, and emergency response.
Certification Opportunities
American Heart Association CPR, First Aid and AED, BEFO (Basic External Firefighting Operations), NYS Hazardous Materials First Responder Operations, and FEMA Emergency Management Institute Certifications.
Information To Note: Students will engage in physical training activities that may be strenuous.

About the instructor
Tyler Davonski is a nationally certified Fire Instructor with more than 10 years of volunteer and career fire service experience. Beginning as a junior firefighter, he developed a strong passion for the fire service and has since advanced into leadership, training and public safety roles. Tyler has served as a Lieutenant with the Quogue and East Quogue fire departments, Fire Marshal for the Town of Southampton, a Safety Specialist at Stony Brook University, and a fire district dispatcher.
He holds numerous professional certifications including New York State Firefighter I&II, Fir Officer I&II, Hazardous Materials Technician (Pro Board), and Fire Instructor I (Pro Board), along with extensive training in rescue operations, incident command, code enforcement and emergency response. Tyler’s instruction blends real-world field leadership with classroom education, helping students connect theory with practical skills needed for careers in fire and emergency services.
