Are you curious about a career where you prepare through hands-on learning? Students in 9th or 10th grade can learn about exciting career paths in technical and vocational fields at no charge.

Small classes with expert instructors will help you evaluate a career you may want to pursue. More importantly, you will learn what kind of skills and education you need to succeed in these fields. Read the following descriptions and then register below.

Architecture

If you like to build things, apply your skills at designing architectural structures! Immerse yourself in the world of design and construction where you need to think about projects from concept to completion. Learn the basics of how to draw on our state-of-the-art computer systems. Bring your ideas to completion with a group project.

Automotive Technology

Discover the inner-workings of the most common form of transportation on Long Island! Gain a hands-on introduction to electrical systems, brakes, suspension, and engine performance.

Cosmetology

Apply your interest in fashion and help others look their best. Join us for an introduction to hair styling and coloring as well as make-up, nail and skin care. Course includes hands-on training using mannequins and classroom instruction. You’ll discover some lucrative career paths in this field.

Culinary Arts

Get a taste of how you can combine your interest in cooking with the hundreds of career opportunities available in the ever-growing food industry. Learn to make delicious and nutritious meals and how to properly handle food. Enjoy the camaraderie of new friends as you sample what you prepare!

Design & Animation

Let your imagination soar as you learn what’s behind the animations you love. Apply your creativity to your interest in drawing and design. Work with letters, shapes, colors and patterns using sophisticated software on iMacs to create images and then animate them. Turn your creative ideas into dynamic artwork!

Fashion Merchandising/Design

Students with a flair or interest in fashion will gain an introduction to both the creative and business side of this exciting industry. Learn to use the sewing machines to make a pillow and then progress to sewing a skirt.
