You can start your career while you are still in high school by choosing one of the programs Wilson Tech offers for high school students. Programs at all five Tech campuses provide you with a foundation for success in the workplace and for post secondary education.
Students in the 18 school districts in the townships of Babylon, Smithtown and Huntington can attend Tech. Students who choose a career and technical education program attend their home school for half a day and are bused to Tech for the other half of the school day.
Get started on your future and meet new friends at Wilson Tech! The choice is yours!
|
|
Students who complete a career and technical education program may receive up to four and a half Regents credits for each year completed. To receive sequence credit, students must complete and pass Career and Financial Management and their Tech course. Students can earn academic credits in math, science, social studies and English while attending Tech. Other subjects in Art, Health and Physical Education are offered as well. |

Find out where the 2008 Graduates of Wilson Tech work or attend college!
|
Students who complete Tech programs find a variety of options for the future. Work/study experiences frequently lead to permanent employment. Wilson Tech has a job placement office that receives calls daily from employers looking for applicants. This information is always available to our students.
Many students elect to further their education at two and four year colleges or at specialized training programs. More than half of Tech graduates enroll in college or other training programs after high school. You can even earn college credit while you are in high school through the Career Pathways program. Wilson Tech has agreements with numerous colleges where Tech graduates can obtain both advanced standing and scholarships.

|
Wilson Tech students can earn a career and technical education (CTE) endorsement on their high school diplomas when they successfully pass a Tech program and Career and Financial Management, meet the attendance criteria and pass a nationally recognized certification exam in their chosen field. Tech students must also pass five Regents exams. Each of Tech's eligible programs has been approved by the State Education Department for this CTE endorsement. |
Tech's larger sites are Central Campus at Dix Hills, North Shore Campus at Northport and Manor Plains Campus at Huntington. In addition, there are two specialized satellite locations: our Aviation Facility at Republic Airport, Farmingdale and the Equestrian Annex at Thomas School of Horsemanship, Melville. Here's where each program is offered for 2009-10.

Students with special needs (ages 16-21) attend Tech programs according to their interests and needs. In addition to mainstream programs, Tech offers programs with fewer students to accommodate those who would benefit from a more individualized pace. Local school districts approve their students to spend one-half day at their home schoool and one-half day at Tech. Tech helps prepare students for transition into mainstream programs (with support), competitive employment and post secondary education.
The Career Scope Assessment Profile, administered by Wilson Tech's Manor Plains staff, evaluates students' vocational strengths and weaknesses and uses this information to match the student with an appropriate Tech choice.
