Tech Students Win Regionals; Place Second in NYS

             Erik Krajewski and Robert Spatola, Commack students from Wilson Technological Center ’s automotive technology program, won more than $24,000 in scholarships, clothing and tools from various auto manufacturers for capturing second place in the New York State skills competition after winning first place in the regional skills competition sponsored by the Greater New York Auto Dealers’ Association.

             The two students from Tech’s Northport campus had 1½ hours to troubleshoot and then repair problems in a 2005 Toyota Solara that could have been anything from inadequate tire pressure to an electrical malfunction.

             Tech’s team from the Dix Hills campus (pictured above), Larry Sog (l.) of Babylon and Matthew Hargwood (r.) of West Babylon placed second in the regional competition and also won scholarships, clothing and tools for troubleshooting a Scion TC.
